Bloom block 12

Wow, and like that we’re already 60% through the Bloom quilt.  I think I mentioned last week that I traced around the Pellon, sewed it to the individual shapes and basted those onto the background fabric before I left for the weekend.

I was 35,000 feet in the air on the way to my destination when I was done and on to the next project – I’ll write more about that later this week.

2016-04-04 11.18.06That means I should complete row 4 the first week of May and the last row the end of May.  I’ll likely spend June completing the sashing, border, basting and then quilting.

Every week when I finish a block, I think about what I plan to do for the quilting.  My first idea is to echo each flower about 1/4″ .  Some blocks have more white space than other, but to keep a consistent look I probably won’t quilt extra in those areas.

The big question is what am I going to quilt on the sashing?  So far I’m coming up with a blank.

I’ve downloaded the pattern for the April block from Leah Day so I’ll start on that either this evening or tomorrow.

  3. Can’t wait to see what you do!

    1. I should probably ask Lori Holt if she has any suggestions. It might end up as a hodge podge if left to my own devices!

    1. Thank you so much! Lori Holt designed not just the pattern, and the templates to make the quilt but she also designed all the fabric.
