Wanna know how to increase your blog traffic? Trade a few emails with Mary Fons. That’s how it worked for me. A friend of a friend invited me to go on a road trip yesterday to hit up a couple of quilt shops on the Gulf coast.  I have plenty to keep me busy, but if I could find a few fat quarters for my Lucy Boston blocks, that would be great – and cheap!  I found these 2 beauties.  Oh the possibilities!

We had just walked in the quilt store when I felt my phone buzz and I checked to make sure it wasn’t a work emergency.  I just sat there and stared at my phone for a couple of minutes. It said I had an email from Mary Fons. Say what???  We traded a few emails – she was following up to make sure everything was copacetic regarding the prize package.

Fast forward to this morning and there it was – another email from my new friend, Mary. She said she was getting ready to post a link to my blog post from yesterday on her Facebook page. Say what???

This happened next.  Yep, the day is halfway through the day and I hit some sort of record number of visitors from people who visited from her page.  You just never know what might happen from sewing 2 pieces of fabric together, one by one.

2016-05-11 10.05.06In the meantime, I was meandering through the first quilt shop that we had stopped at.  The store was huge.  I lost count of how many rooms were in there but it was several.  They had dozens upon dozens of quilts displayed throughout the entire store so I was busy snapping photos of all these beautiful quilts, and their dazzling display of fabric. We were about to round it up when someone mentioned “too bad we aren’t allowed to take photos in this store”. Ack! Did a store employee see me taking photos?  I was going to share them here, but that’s not the hill I want to die on and I don’t want to get banned from their store.  So I’m posting a blurry photo of some of the books they sell.  What a shame, because one of the best pictures I took was in the ladies room!

We stopped for lunch at a seafood restaurant and 6 of us sat together. 4 of the 6 of us are Singer Featherweight owners! I told the other 2 they needed to get with the program and buy one!  The name Nova Montgomery was mentioned by all of the ladies as an expert on all things Featherweight and I think at least a couple of them have gone to one of her seminars to learn about the maintenance of this wonderful machine.

We headed to the next store and they had a lot of great fabric too but I kept to my list and looked for Lucy Boston block fabric. This set should make a nice set of blocks once I get through the one I’m working on now.

All in all, it was a great road trip with friends, and I think I made some new ones yesterday both in person and via email!

Congratulations, Texas Quilting! Way to go and increase your blog traffic. I have never figured out why a few of my posts get tons of traffic and then, some not as much. I just do this for the increase of brain waves while I work in a rather tedious job, this keeps my mind active. I post about innumerable subjects so once in awhile, I also become a ‘winner!’ Smiles, Robin

Oh does that “No pictures” thing sound familiar!!!! It has only happened a couple of times in my blogging history, but…………… The one gal said I could snap a pic if I bought the mega buck kit and then only that sample! She was actually rude enough that I stayed outside while others went in!!!! I usually do ask and explain I’m doing a blog post that will give them FREE PR…….rarely do I have a problem!!!!!! I also make sure to send them a link to the post. I’ve received many thanx!!!!!!! Oh well……keep on keeping on………….
