Block 33 – Selvage Saver

2016-06-05 13.10.57Boy howdy am I ever behind in blogging!  I’ve had family and friends in town for the past several days as we’ve had a couple of big celebrations going on.

I’ll catch up tomorrow, but a quick run-down is I was able to give the King quilt away for a birthday present this weekend.

And I finished sewing the top of the Bloom block quilt – I’ll share those both tomorrow.

I also got in more white fabric for the hunters star quilt, and the sashing fabric for the Lucy Boston quilt.

I’m so far behind, I haven’t even read comments from last week yet or caught up on everyone else’s blogs!  But today’s block for the Splendid Sampler was showing off the selvages that we have.  I took a different route; instead of showing off the ones for the current quilt…since you can see those colors already…I made mine out of the fabrics of some of the other quilts I’ve made, or will be making this year.

I have lots and lots of selvages so this one was quick and easy to put together!

  2. I never would have thought to save them and make a block! How neat!

    1. I do save them, but I’ve never made a block from them – hats off to Pat Sloan for the idea! I thought it was a cute block!

I save selvages for tying packages or anything that requires such. I just keep stuffing them in a bag that’s hanging on the edge of the cutting table!!!!! LOL!!!

    1. Haha! I use selvages to tie my hair back in a ponytail because it always is in my way when I’m sewing!

  4. What a great idea that is about the selvages.

    1. Yes, I’ve decided Pat is a pretty smart woman! That’s why she makes a living at this!
