Block #56 – At Home Anywhere

20160906_102653.jpgI was determined to to catch up on the Splendid Sampler blocks, because #60 comes out this Thursday and I want to end the week with a nice even row.  I went to grab the template I had printed out a week ago and thought “hey, that’s a blog post!”.

Do you see in the photo a 3-ring binder on the left?  I used to print these out and hope that I got to them quickly enough that I didn’t misplace it, accidentally cut through it, throw it away, etc. before I got to it. I started putting them in the binder so that at least I had a consistent place to keep them.

I saw on Pinterest a while back a couple of templates for quilt project planners from pixelstopatchwork.com.  I really use the Benjamin app on my iPad for organizing projects, but this paper version is nice for anyone who prefers to use it so I filled out a couple of pages to show you what it looks like. She has 2 pages – an overview and then a page for each project.  I edited her individual page a little bit to add bullet points for fabric used.  She offers it in both Word and PDF which is nice if you like the overall design and just want to print and go or if you want to change it up a bit.

20160906_142316.jpgI was just absolutely swamped at work from the time I turned my notebook on this morning, and I have a meeting this evening in a few minutes.  I found a few minutes here and there and eventually cobbled together one of the previous blocks that I hadn’t finished.  This one is # 56 – At Home Anywhere.

There is a park just 2 blocks away from our house – lots of trees, a nice path to walk around, playground for the kids, soccer fields and so forth.  And restrooms at each end.  The bathrooms look just like this house – I don’t know why but that just cracked me up!  I got done and thought “well, I just sewed a public restroom!”  The bathroom doesn’t really have the big picture window – but it does have the long one above the door.

Apparently “at home anywhere” also includes park facilities!

  1. Well, it just goes to show you that just about anything can become a quilt block! Nice job…do you ever sleep?

    1. That’s right – even a bathroom! I definitely do sleep – haha!

  2. I continue to be in awe of your productivity and organization: “I was just absolutely swamped at work from the time I turned my notebook on this morning, and I have a meeting this evening in a few minutes. I found a few minutes here and there and eventually cobbled together one of the previous blocks that I hadn’t finished.” – many of us would have run to grab a snack, etc., but you whipped out a quilt block!!! 🙂

    1. Haha! I didn’t even think about it that way! I did have dinner in there somewhere – so there’s that at least!
