4 rows and change

20160919_135601.jpgI finished up my 4th row yesterday evening on the purple star quilt and then kept right on going.  I’ve finally found my rhythm on making the blocks.  Each block is made of 4 identical sets, and each of those sets includes 4 units.

I’ve found that making an entire row – 20 sets – was way too much at one time; I did that for row 3 and thought I’d never finish, because everything was partially done until the final seam for each block.  I need more instant feedback than that! I’ve made the last several in groups of 6 sets each, or rather 1 1/2 blocks.  That way I’m still finishing up a block at a time but I’m also halfway through the next block.  I’ve finished 2 more over lunch today which leaves me with 3 more to go…and then I’m done with the paper piecing!

I love the colour combo that are working with! They all really work well together!

    1. Thank you! I bought the backing fabric yesterday that hopefully will complement the quilt top.

  3. This is even more striking in a big group: wow!! I totally understand the need for smaller “bites” in a project this big, especially with that many pieces! It’s coming along beautifully.

  4. Me too! I wanna see something now! Working on patience…

  5. I really like this quilt! The colors are beautiful together and the purple really makes this quilt come alive.

  6. I feel the same way about needing more frequent feedback and gratification. It looks great, whatever way you’re doing it.

    1. Thanks! I think that frequent feedback shows up through all sorts of things in my life!

I am in love with this quilt pattern and your color choices!

    1. Thank you! I think what I like about it is I know it’s what the recipient will like. Some of the fabrics, like the lime green, have the potential to be really “ew” if it were paired with other fabrics but it works here.
