finally on to the binding~

20160928_201954.jpgI knew the schedule at work was about to ratchet up and boy did it.  I was lucky if I had 30-60 minutes after work each day to spend on this quilt.  A lunch break was a distant memory.  It will be like that for the next 3-4 weeks but it should calm down again after that.  That’s just the way my job is.

What I haven’t worked on this week at all is the Splendid Sampler.  I’d had an idea in the back of my mind that I’d like to try a feathered star sometime.  Then I saw the cover of this month’s magazine.  Then I saw last Sunday’s block for the Splendid Sampler and thought that sure looked like a feathered “something or other” to me and promptly set it aside.  Some day, not in the near future!

20160928_201730.jpgWhat I have been doing is quilting, quilting, and more quilting.  I decided to do an all over pattern of 5 pointed stars on the quilt.  I typically will do any stitch in the ditch work first to help keep the 3 layers together but that didn’t happen this time because there is literally none of it.  What I did was stitch star after star after star all over the quilt.  Then after I took  look at it, I realized the stars really didn’t stand out very much so I spent the rest of this week echoing inside all the stars I’d already quilted. I’m finally done with that and just finished sewing the binding on.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now!

Good for you, sometimes it is hard to stay motivated when work is overwhelming. Hope your busy season concludes quickly!

    1. Thank you! Me too – I did not finish what I wanted to for work last Friday, so tomorrow morning is looking busy already.

  4. Yup, work interferes with our creative time!

    1. What’s up with that? I don’t understand why my employer doesn’t let me goof all the time (darn it).
