And another one is finished, except for of course the threads but then again I always put that off for a rainy day. I had it all done but the binding I think by this weekend. I originally had more of a blue/purple for the actual purple part of this quilt but this is for my niece’s daughter in grade school who is a big fan of purple so I wanted to make that stand out. When it came time for the binding, I remembered I still had all that original blue/purple so I used that for the binding. That turned out to be a great way to add a final “pop” around the edges. I took a couple of photos to give an idea what the backing fabric looks like. Unfortunately the quilting just doesn’t stand out on this quilt as much as I thought that it would from a distance, but close up you can see the stars that I quilted into it. I also stitched a verse that talks about shining like stars – Daniel 12:3 – Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever. I forgot to sew in a label so I need to add one but I have until Christmas to do that so hopefully I’ll remember to do that later!
I just love quilts! I have always wanted to be able to sew; clothes, quilts, etc. but never quite got past the threading of the sewing machine! lol Your quilt is gorgeous!
Thank you so much! In several ways, sewing quilts is easier than clothes although I sewed nearly all of my daughter’s clothes when she was little. Do you have any friends that would spend some time getting you started? I find most people love to share the fun by teaching others. Also, the library near us has a free quilting bee every Tuesday – also a lot of quilting stores do as well. Starting with something simple – pick up pre-cut fabric and find a pattern suited for first-timers to build the confidence and next thing you know…you’ll have yourself a quilt too!
It’s one of those now that I really shouldn’t try something new! I have a couple special quilt that my mom made and that’s good for me!
So very gorgeous!! I never thought to embroider a verse!! How wonderful!! I do pray for the people, as I sew.
The binding is perfect, as is the whole thing!! Color scheme, quilting, and all!!
Thank you! That is very sweet! I like the idea of literally “covering someone in prayer” by stitching verses into the quilt.
Yes!!
Wow! That is beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Beautiful quilt. Good feeling to finish a project.
Thank you! You are absolutely right – it is a good feeling.
LUV, LUV this quilt! What a nice verse to finish this masterpiece!
Oh thank you! I really appreciate it! It’s one of my memory verses so at least I didn’t have much of a stretch when I thought about what I wanted to add to the quilt to personalize it.
Wow! That is simply stunning! Hopefully, ( one day) 😊 I might be able to produce something to that standard…. 😊
You definitely can! What worked for me was I started out slowly on the first block, and then took notes on what did and didn’t work and from there I made 2 more blocks and took notes what worked on those. I learned a lot through the process.
Thanks for the advice…..I’ll give that a go…I’d love to try half square triangles next….but I keep putting it off! I’ll do as you say…lt might make it easier to remember what I do wrong 😀
I just started a quilt using half square triangles today. I think they’re one of the most versatile shapes used in a quilt because of the wide variety of what they can be used.
Love the inscription. Beautiful quilt!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it.
Love this quilt! The colors are great.
Thank you! I used the colors in the original pattern which turned out to be a good decision.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!! and I love how you stitched the phrase – that takes a steady hand!!
Thank you! That is really sweet. I did write the verse out first with a Frixion pen and stitched on top of it and then ironed to get rid of the pen marks.
This looks great. I love the colours and the quote stitched in the bottom too.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Gorgeous! something about those overlapping blues and greens reminds me of a the kaleidoscopes we used to play with in the 70s. Love the verse too.
That’s a great visual! It does have a retro look with the colors in it. Thank you so mch!
Wow it seems like you just posted about starting this quilt. Yup I am pretty sure you don’t sleep – you must be working during the day and quilting through the night!
At the time, it felt like I was sewing on it forever! When I started getting close to the end, I started sewing at some crazy hours because I wanted to see it finished because I was excited about it. I’ve slowed back down again – haha!
Its real pretty. I like the background to add a splash of color. your sure a busy girl.
Thank you! The backing was a bit of a risk but I liked how it turned out!
She will treasure this, it is beautiful!
Thank you so much! That is so sweet of you to say!
I love the verse stitched on. Very pretty quilt!
Thank you!
