Woo hoo!  Let’s hear it for vacation time! I’d say I’m working hard at hardly working but truthfully I’m working at non-paid things this week.  It’s all good stuff though!  It’s 70 degrees outside with a beautiful blue sky if you can’t tell from the picture.  The last quilt I followed a pantograph; for this one I quilted roughly the same pattern but did free motion quilting instead.  There were some “interesting” (ahem) patterns quilted in here and there, but overall it worked.

I emailed/called a few friends to tell them I had completed all the “need to get done” quilting so if anyone wanted to try out quilting on something they had ready to give me a holler.  I didn’t get any takers after a couple of days so I’ve loaded the Libs Elliott quilt and am busy on that one now.

One friend has been looking at long arms as long as I have, so she came over with her husband a few days ago to get measurements on the length and width and to get a sense of the setup in a real room (as opposed to a showroom) to see if they can make it work for them also.

I’m not someone who has a room overflowing with fabric, although I do have loads more than I need.  It’s starting to get disorganized again so when I saw someone suggest an economical way to arrange their fabric so that it’s easy to find what I’m looking for, I was all over that.  I bought these off of Amazon, although apparently you can find them in comic book stores if you know where a store is near you.  These are thin/pliable cardboard rectangles that are 7 x 10 1/2″ that apparently a lot of quilters use to wrap their fabric on.

It was suggested that these work best for fat quarters through two yards; any more than that and I’ll probably want to fold the fabric separately.  I think that probably covers the majority of what I had in mind though.  I’m in no rush to get this done; it’s something that I could do while watching TV, etc.  My plan is to organize the fabrics based on color so that if I’m looking for a blue fabric, I’ll be able to immediately find it.  Plus I’ll have a better sense of what colors I have a lot of, and what I probably need to buy if I see a pattern I like.
