I don’t know how much thread I’ve used to make this En Provence quilt so far, but I’m sure it’s twice as much as was required because I’ve taken out half of it. Wow is it ever easy to flip some of those blocks around.
This picture is taken at a slight angle because the light in the room is hanging in the way. As you can see from my expert photo editing skills, I spent approximately 10 seconds whiting out the Splendid Sampler blocks behind the open space so that they weren’t distracting. Because that white isn’t distracting *at all*!
Anyway, the finished quilt will be 5 magenta stars across and down (25 total) and 4 large purple/blue circular blocks across and down (16 total). I have 11 of the 16 done and the associated stars with it so more than halfway. I have been absolutely swamped at work this week and haven’t had a lot of time to work on it – mostly at 6am or 6pm.
In the meantime, I was straightening up my fabric in the china cabinet between trips to the iron. I didn’t notice our cat jumped in there at some point. In fact, she jumped into the 3rd row apparently. I closed it and didn’t happen to see I had a visitor.
I let her sit in there a minute or two longer until I got a picture of her – haha! The glass isn’t really smeared; it was just the reflection. That cabinet is over 100 years old with the original glass in it. My great-grandfather made it and my great-grandmother passed it directly to me, bypassing my grandmother and mom who already had their own anyway. It makes me happy whenever I see it, but today it made me laugh!
Having glass on the cabinet makes it quicker to locate a missing cat.
Yes, I didn’t even know she was in there until she started crying because she was trapped.

I received a china cabinet that belonged to my mother.
As of yet, I had nothing in it.

I’m ready to make my solid 3 1/2 inch yellow squares but have decided I want them to be four patches of yellow instead of a solid piece. I have no idea why I do that sort of thing! Hats off to you. By the time I got to those squares I was excited to see I was done piecing blocks. I somehow ended up with extra 4-patch neutrals when I was all done. I have no idea how I got that far off – it’s a bunch!

I thought I was making it for my niece but now I’m thinking my husband overrode that decision. I was surprised he wanted to keep it since it has a healthy dose of the magenta.

Haha, Kitty curiosity caught up with her today! That cabinet is so gorgeous! My Granny had a bow front one similar to it. My cousin got it, much to our jealousy!
My great-grandmother had one daughter who didn’t live to adulthood, and a son who moved around a lot. And my grandmother. Then my mom is an only child so I probably have more things from my grandmother and great-grandmother than some folks. Small family, but lots of heirlooms!
