I’ve been quilting on En Provence night and day. Mostly morning; I’m not a night owl and decided it wasn’t a good idea for me to work on it when I was tired. Usually, I am in the middle of a row when I stop for the day but yesterday I was at the end of a row, so I took the time to advance the quilt to the next section, clamped it down and basted the edges so I could get a fresh start today.
Well…I forgot that I did all of that last night. It was 5:30 this morning and I turned on my machine, saw that my last stitch was at the end of the row so I did what I always do. I advanced the quilt. Wow was I ever excited to see I was on the last row of the quilt! Except I wasn’t. I had advanced my quilt last night…and again this morning – but hadn’t actually quilted across. Roll it back up sister. So it will still be this weekend at a minimum before I’m done because it takes me more than the free time I have in one day to finish a row. But I’m making progress at least.
This block doesn’t match the design exactly but I felt like it was a little cluttered if I had stitched around the edge. Somewhere along the way the lid on my button jar in the bottom left-hand corner fell off and I didn’t notice. I had a crazy time trying to keep those tiny pieces to stay in place. I don’t know if you can see it but I added decorative stitched on top to help keep it in place. Glue and Heat ‘n Bond just didn’t do it.
Haha, that’s why I can’t sew at night either!

I might add buttons later, but now that I’m thinking of how to quilt it I realized those buttons are just going to get in the way so that’s for after it’s done.

I admire your willingness to stick to the making of blocks with such small and intricate detail. And I have to smile at you rolling the quilt twice without quilting because that is so very much like something I might do.
I learned that lesson the hard way, but sometimes those are the best lessons!
That is sew cute!!!! And the embroidery sure brings back a ton of memories. I might just have to get all my floss out when I return home. I’m seeing more and more of the stitchings incorporated into piecings that I really love (like this one!!!!).
