Today’s blog post is a mashup of several projects – just individual blocks here and there.  I bought a Quilter’s Planner at the end of the year to help me keep track of my quilting projects.  Overall it’s worked well – I have probably used it more to track what  I did each day after the fact than to see forward.  There is a note section at the bottom and each week (it’s laid out in a weekly format) I write down the name of the current projects and if they are numbered then I put that down.  For instance this first block with the kites is one of two blocks for February for the Craftsy BOM (block of the month).  There was a question about the 2nd set of blocks for the month regarding the template sizes so I’m holding off working on them for a bit until I’m sure Craftsy has figured that out.

Next up is block 98 of the Splendid Sampler.  And…I just noticed that the photo I uploaded was before I stitched it down.  Kathy, I did not do needle turn.  I had decided at the start of this, when I was doing the Bloom quilt which was all applique, that I would machine stitch either a blanket stitch, satin stitch, etc. for all the Splendid Sampler blocks since I was getting my fill of hand sewing appliqued blocks at the time.

This one could’ve been dark on white, but based on my layout, I needed a block with more dark in it. The background fabric was one of the very first ones I chose for this project so it’s nice to use it at the end.  I’ve really enjoyed making this quilt and am looking forward to sewing it together!

And the last one are 4 patch blocks for the Amy Ellis sampler quilt.  This isn’t the layout for the blocks in the quilt; this is just how I laid them out to take a photo.  This quilt is going to be so colorful and even though it’s just one set of blocks per month, it’s still a lot of fun to see it begin to take shape.  She pulled various blocks from several quilts in her latest book to pull them together in a sampler.

I’ve also been working here and there on the Outlander quilt but just doing small portions of each block because I’m waiting for my sister to get her fabric before really moving full steam ahead.  That one is a lot of navy, dark green, and grey plaid so all of these are really different from each other.

I could, in theory, put some of this on the back burner and finish one out, but I like the variety.  It’s nice to see all of them advance a little bit at a time. I can’t believe block 99 out of 100 for the Splendid Sampler is tomorrow!  I keep moving blocks around.  I might actually be ready to sew some of them together on Saturday although I’m still holding out for the final block until I say “done”.
