Block 99 – Four Corner Spinwheel

20170211_190822.jpgWe are so close!  I’m kind of amazed I actually kept up with this quilt.  2 blocks a week for a year is a long time.  I remember last year, actually December 2015, thinking maybe I would try my hand at the 365 quilt.  I signed up for emails and then common sense set in – I wouldn’t keep up on a block every single day so I didn’t start it.

But I did start this one, and with one block to go it looks like I’ll finish it too.  I found myself moving blocks around on the design wall to get the ones that I did the best job on near the middle and the ones that either I didn’t get perfect points on or maybe I could’ve done a better job picking fabrics are being pushed to the edges.  Once I get the last block sewn, I’ll get serious about sewing blocks together and then rows.  It currently would measure 84 x 84 so I think I’ll make it at least large enough to have it fit a queen bed we have upstairs.

Your pinwheel is so very well done! I love the colors too. I’m looking forward to seeing the final design wall.😊

    1. I’m reading all my comments backwards, and now I’m wondering…did I ever post that? I hope I did – if not, then hopefully I’ll finish up the quilting in the next week or 2.

I’m not sure that you did, but this last week is a bit of a blur…we can wait until you take it off.

        1. Yes, you’ve had more than your fair share of unexpected events as well.

  3. So pretty! I just had to smile when you talked about placing the “best” blocks in center stage. We quilters all think alike, lol!:)

    1. Haha! When I laid it out on the bed, I made sure I had the focal point just right!

  4. That’s such a massive achievement. Well done! I really love this one.

    1. Thank you so much!

Look forward to some design wall sneak peaks 🙂

    1. Haha! Hopefully I posted that – now I can’t remember. The last 3 weeks have been such a blur with non-quilting stuff and I’m forgetting what I did.

I’m in the same boat. Lots of stuff going on around here. 😊

        1. Ack! Just when I thought I was past getting lost on my way to your blog, it points me back to https://katytrailcreations.wordpress.com/ again. Pork chops! But it makes me laugh every time I end up there. Now I need to find your “real” address so I can find out what you’ve been up to.

            Well it’s technically slfinnell1965.wordpress.com 😊

Congratulations on finally getting there. I know I wouldn’t have made it. Just a word of caution, when a quilt is on a bed, it is the blocks near the edge hanging over the end of the bed that are most prominent. Don’t push the blocks you are most dissatisfied with to every edge. Keep one edge or the bottom (if the quilt is going to be rectangular) with very nice blocks.

    1. Fortunately I think there were only 3 that drove me crazy out of 100 and since I knew the right side of the quilt would be the least visible in the room, I lined them up there so it won’t be obvious once it’s on the bed.

  8. Absolutely gorgeous! I love the color and fabric design.

    1. Thank you!

  9. Very pretty design.
