About Me

I like to sew, but the great thing about making a quilt is there are no zippers!  Or button holes!  Or dealing with flimsy pattern paper!

What started as a hobby is now emerging into a business. We recently acquired an Epilog laser cutting machine. This enables me to create one-of-a-kind quilts and related items which are precisely cut, resulting in a beautiful finished product.

We can also cut custom acrylic rulers at either 1/8″ to use with your rotary cutter, or 1/4″ for use with a hopping foot when quilting. You can custom order rulers in a variety of lengths and styles with your personal name, company name, logo, etc. Contact us at contact@texasquilting.org  or fill out the form below for more information!

  3. thank you for being the 1st person ever to follow my blog. I just started because of the a project I entered is a blog hop. What few post of yours that I have read so far are very interesting.

    1. How exciting to be the first! I enjoy blogging. It’s a fun way to connect with people!

      1. I’m still learning but ill get the hang of it. Off to a running start. lol

  4. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and getting to know a bit more about you. We have something in common: I avoid buttonholes, too!

I am not a quilter but you followed me so let’s just stay on the same path and get to know each other. I took two sewing classes and learned a lot but clothes in thrift stores or sales racks come ready made and the cost is actually less than making them! 🙂

Very good reasons for choosing quilts over clothes. I do both but always try to avoid buttonholes and zips when I can – think stretch fabric and cutting on the bias!

    1. I saw a tutorial for a key chain wristlet the other day that I think I might make. I am always losing my keys in my purse, and my purse isn’t that big. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8CFhRt6huI#action=share

I succumbed once and made a pair of pajama pants. From directional fabric. Idiot. Never again. Thanks for stopping by and following my blog.

  8. I love quilting for all those same reasons! I HATE buttonholes!!
Thank you for visiting, and following!

    1. I almost lost my senses yesterday and thought about making a jacket for myself but when I remembered the buttonhole, that’s all it took to say – forget that! Zippers in pants comes in a close second place.

      1. I’m glad you caught yourself!!!
I’d hate to lose you to buttonhole insanity right after I met ya!!
Shudder, zippers- don’t even say the word!!

        1. The bane of my existence!

          1. Mine too!!

  9. I am with you! I made all of my clothes until the age of 30 – never have made another garment, sewed another zipper, or even attempted to. Do not even like little “purses”, etc that are so popular now. JUST QUILTING!! LOL

    1. I haven’t made a single purse either! I occasionally sew costumes and so forth for the kids but haven’t made anything for me to wear in years (and don’t plan to – haha!).

Thanks for visiting and following The 3rd Drawer Down. I hope you like all my “other stuff”.

  11. I like your reasons for liking quilting. May I add that there’s also very little pinning or having to anchor beginning and ending sewing lines.

    1. That is so true! Thank you for the reminder!

  12. I enjoy quilts but have no talent for creating them so I always admire people who have the skill and patience. Thank you for following Beauty Along the Road.
