Happy Friday!

curated quiltWoo hoo!  I just saw this email from the fabulous Amy Ellis regarding my entry for the Curated Quilt mini. My daughter is home from college for a couple of weeks before she heads back for summer classes so we’ve been catching up on everything since the start of the semester.  Just yesterday she asked me why someone would make a mini quilt.

Pulled In Every Direction

We had been watching Eleanor Burns (and she thought that the RFD channel was a hoot in and of itself) who had made a wall hanging so I explained some people hang them on the wall, or use them as coasters (mug rugs); I have one that I set on the piano when I want to put a vase of flowers there or any other number of reasons.

Finally she asked – did people tend to make minis because they are testing out a pattern for a larger quilt? I thought that was interesting because I’ve actually had an idea in my mind to maybe make a mini from a larger quilt that I designed earlier this month.  A mini is generally quicker, but it also shows every teensy tiny mistake since the eyes don’t have as much to focus on.
