Bee In My Bonnet

A friend of mine is a big fan of Lori Holt’s style and went to a retreat that she hosted previously.  So she asked if I wanted to do this quilt along.  I like this one because she publishes a picture of the final project so at least I know what I’m getting myself into.

Lori is also a fabric designer so these are all her fabrics and she also created templates for all sorts of flower and leaf shapes which is awesome.

The technique used for this applique is to trace the pattern on Pellon interfacing, then sew that to the right side of the fabric, leaving the usual quarter inch seam.  Then cutting an “X” in the interacing and turning it inside out, which now puts the right side of the fabric on the top, the interfacing on the bottom and the seams are hidden.

It takes a while longer because every part of this is hand sewn on, but I love the way it looks.
