I grew up in a family with several children, and one tradition we had was like many people – we hit every available Easter egg hunt in a 20 mile radius of our house. That may be a slight exaggeration. There was the year I won the golden egg; that was thrilling. 
Then there was the one we went to where they used real hard boiled eggs – except we ended up with some that weren’t hard boiled and when I started to peel one in the car to eat on the way home…well you can probably guess how that story ended. Even when we were in college, Mom and Dad still had an Easter egg hunt and that was so much fun!
So I thought maybe I’d try to make one myself. I didn’t have a pattern but I figured 2 tumbler shaped pieces and a circle would almost do it. If anyone would like me to post instructions with measurements, etc. let me know and I’ll add in another post. In the meantime, this one passed muster so I’m filling it up with lots and lots of chocolate and sending it on its way!

I remember hiding eggs for the girls 15-20 times Easter afternoon, indoors or out depending on the weather. I also remember a certain egg that Girl #2 was adamant to keep. She hid it in her drawer for months 😳. It finally cracked…good thing it was summer by then!
I love Easter hunts. When we were little we hunted for Easter bunnies in the woods behind our house. It was lucky to see a white one. (That usually happened in the years when Easter was really early). Eggs were always hard boiled and dyed — never chocolate and Mom always made deviled eggs with them. Thanks for bringing back a memory.
