I haven’t posted as many photos of this particular sew-along but that’s because there will be just 12 large blocks, one per month. To put that in perspective, the Bloom sew-along that I’m doing is weekly for 20 weeks. The Splendid Sampler is semi-weekly with blocks that are released on Sundays and Thursdays.
I decided when I started this quilt that I wanted to use the 3 primary colors and 3 complementary colors- red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Each month I pick a different color to go in the outside of each square – blue this month – and then see what other 2 colors I haven’t used as much yet. That way there’s continuity between the blocks and yet each one has a different feel to it, depending on the mix of primary to complementary colors. This one has a very different feel to it than the one I did that has blue, green and purple for instance.
I still need to quilt it; I might end up doing that after I finish quilting the king that I’m working on since I can see the end of the tunnel with it. Speaking of the king quilt that I dare not post photos of because it’s a present, I decided today to name it Elvis because I always call it the king!
Here’s what’s growing just outside the windows in my sewing room this week.
Looks very good
Very exact corners! Nicely done.
Thank you! After working on 6″ blocks for Splendid Sampler, this one was a piece of cake!
