I’m sewing these Splendid Sampler blocks out of order again. I was actually going to complete Thursday’s first until I saw that today’s block was paper pieced. I used regular copy paper to print out the pattern for the star quilt. Someone suggested to me a couple of weeks ago to try newspaper print – it’s extremely thin; much thinner than copy paper. And it’s really cheap. Sure enough, Amazon sells pretty much everything including 8.5″ x 11″ newspaper print so I bought 500 sheets for $10. That’s about a fifth of the cost of a well known brand used for paper piecing. It worked great! I think I’ll try it a few more times to see if it continues to hold up well but for a simple block it was great. I just need to square this one up and it’s ready to go.
Thanks for the tip on newspaper print!
If you try it, let me know what you think of it!
