Block 67 – Bobbin Chase

20161002_132134_001.jpgI’m sewing these Splendid Sampler blocks out of order again.  I was actually going to complete Thursday’s first until I saw that today’s block was paper pieced.  I used regular copy paper to print out the pattern for the star quilt.  Someone suggested to me a couple of weeks ago to try newspaper print – it’s extremely thin; much thinner than copy paper.  And it’s really cheap. Sure enough, Amazon sells pretty much everything including 8.5″ x 11″ newspaper print so I bought 500 sheets for $10.  That’s about a fifth of the cost of a well known brand used for paper piecing.  It worked great!  I think I’ll try it a few more times to see if it continues to hold up well but for a simple block it was great.  I just need to square this one up and it’s ready to go.
