10 bucks for Farmer’s Wife!

2016-04-21 09.21.48On Sunday, the block was another embroidery block and I realized hey….we’re doing several of these; I know that in general I have “Civil War” fabric colors so I’ll buy some skeins of floss in coordinating colors.  Black, brown, rust, medium blue.  I bought 4 skeins and thought I was good to go.

Then came today’s block, which if you haven’t guessed is a boatload of embroidery.  Hey I like embroidery; I just didn’t think 3 steps ahead on this.  I needed green, black, dark blue and light blue, yellow, light pink, orange, magenta and dark red.  What in the sam hill?  I started this sampler with 0 skeins of embroidery floss.  I stocked up on stabilizer for applique work but didn’t figure out that what I really should’ve stocked up on was embroidery floss.

Am I set now on floss?  Time will tell!  I have the green portion stitched so we’ll see how much I get done this evening.  I’m taking tomorrow afternoon off so hopefully I’ll get it done by then.  farmers wife

In the meantime there was much joy and mirth at my house today when the letter carrier showed up with a copy of “The Farmer’s Wife 1930s Sampler Quilt” that I bought for just ten bucks!  Am I excited?  You bet!

Great deal on the Farmers Wife book! I’m making those ones too. (Because I’m not doing enough?!?)

I know how to oungrel on the embroidery. I kept trying to avoid it and then this block was released. I am now going… “Maybe I should just try it.” I bet by the next block I will own embroidery thread too…

  3. This is a wonderful book! So glad you bought it for a bargain price! Looks like you will have a busy summer!

    1. I always like a bargain! I’m still thinking about my Mama Said Sew fabric for possibilities. That’s not really the theme of the farmer p’s wife blocks but I might use it anyway.
